CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS
I am due to log off work in a couple of days and plan to read. There are about four or five on my must-read list, including overdue gems like Still Life, Piranesi, The Winter King and Empire of Silence - all recommended by others I know and trust. That’s what you do at Christmas, so I have had a few of those stomach-turning moments in recent weeks when friends have said they were buying SEVEN DIALS for their father, brother, aunt, niece, etc. It’s nice to be thought of as a stocking filler, and hopefully enjoyed beyond the initial receipt, with the story delved into and explored. It was quite a moment on the writer’s journey this week when I finally found a couple of copies of SEVEN DIALS in my local Waterstones.
